Stalin and the USSR's top general in WWII

Generals have to survive politicians, no matter whose Army they're in.

Zhukov gets credit for victories but he was a ruthless general who sacrificed Russian troops in a way that Allied generals wouldn't consider.

There were plenty of American Generals who would have used the same tactics as Zhukov if they could have gotten away with it; Patton was a lesser version, as were Mark Clark and some others. They knew when to back off now and then.

In any event they found ways to match and exceed inflicting high casualty rates on German troops that didn't require massive casualties of our own troops. Same with most of our wars in the 20th Century. Brains are always better than mindless savagery in the long run, despite it's utility in some battles short term.

old Joe was not thrilled with Zukov.

its an old commie myth , what Zhukov could do ? why ´d red czar Koba fear his generals ?
Tukhachevsky's family members all suffered after his execution. His wife, Nina Tukhachevskaya, and his brothers Alexandr and Nikolai, both instructors in a Soviet military academy, were all shot. Three of his sisters were sent to the Gulag. His underage daughter was arrested when she reached adulthood and remained in the Gulag until the 1950s

Free world armies can not use the tactic as Zhukov ( Muscovite barbarians ) "More than 80 years ago Prime Minister Genden, Amar, and the Military Commander Demid paid the price with their lives for refusing to join the Khalkhin Gol Battle on the territory of their own country. At least 30,000 people have died in preparation of the war. In the real battlefield, 237 soldiers were killed, of which one-third shot by the Soviet Red Army aircraft due to distrust and libel. And the other one-third was executed for they were wrongly suspected as Japanese intelligence agents.....Stalin first used the Zhukov technique, which ignores human loss at the time. He also started the border dispute, and the battle was initially planned by Stalin. They noted Mongolians loss as a “1921 horse camel”. A fact is more important than truth. ....."

Patton: “Dude (to Zhukov, famous looter and killer own men), what the fuck?! Are Soviet generals supposed to jingle when they walk?! You look like a fucking clown. You’re literally wearing a junk shop!”

Zhukov filled seven train wagons with stolen furniture

Soviet soldiers and officers were allowed to send home parcels with “trophies” (loot ). Marshal Georgiy Zhukov, a legendary symbol of Soviet victory, filled seven train wagons with the most expensive German furniture. He sent home complete sets of furniture for the living room, dining room, bedrooms of his apartment and dacha – a total of 194 items.

When an investigation into the “trophy (loot) case” began in January 1948 on Stalin’s orders, police officers searched Zhukov’s homes and found over 4,000 metres of silk, brocade, panne velvet, and other fabrics; 323 sable, monkey, fox, cat and astrakhan skins; 44 ancient carpets and large antique tapestries stolen from Potsdam and other German palaces; 55 priceless paintings in artistic frames; seven large boxes with porcelain and crystal ware; two boxes with silver cutlery and tea sets. The items were listed in the official document submitted by the Minister of State Security of the USSR Viktor Abakumov.

Zhukov’s dacha so impressed Abakumov that he wrote an extensive report for the investigative commission.

“In all rooms of his dacha, on windows, shelves, tables and bedside tables we found many bronze and porcelain vases, statuettes, as well as various foreign-made items. It seems that all the objects – starting from furniture, carpets, dishes, decorations and ending with the curtains – come from other countries, mainly Germany. There is literally nothing of Soviet origin in the dacha, except for the paths that lead to Zhukov’s home. We found no Soviet books, but we documented many German works in beautiful bindings with gilt embossing.”

Zhukov became Stalin's fire brigade in 1941/1942 after Leningrad. By 1944 Stalin was back to trying to get his generals to compete (especially Zhukov and Konev). But he was not the best Soviet general. That would go to Rossokovsky, Vatutin, or arguably Konev. *

*Rossokovsky had a metal mouth because he was sent to the gulag and they knocked his teeth out with a hammer during the Purges, but he was one of the generals they brought back in 1941 after the Germans made it halfway across the European portion of the USSR.
