Spitfire crashes in field near RAF Coningsby

The historic aircraft is believed to have been taking part in a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

It was part of RAF's Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight which are flown by RAF pilots.....The deceased pilot had 60 combat missions......RIP.

Will look into the cause.
The Spit can be a handful to fly under certain envelopes.

The unfortunate fact is these aircraft are over 80 years old. Museum time?

In the 70s I belonged to a reenactment group (Cutshaw's battery) that had two CW era 12-pound Napoleons. They worked just fine.

Well they are vintage aircraft so things go wrong, i have seen a Spitfire flying more than once and they are a fantastic sight, RIP.
