So now that Republicans have shown they can still win the popular vote, now many States that signed up for this will be removing the laws from the books?

They just can't do the work to amend the Constitution, they have to try this end run. And it's on dubious constitutional grounds anyway.

I don’t think it will ever be possible to amend the constitution in our lifetimes.

Nobody has tried it recently, so until then if someone wants radical change let them start the process.

I'm no constitutional expert by any means, but I suspect that any such compact probably does not carry the force of law behind it. IOW, any state that signed up for it is not legally bound to honor it, because it has no basis in the Constitution or in current law. JMO, for what it's worth. Has any federal court ruled on it one way or another?

Now, that changes if the Supreme Court is ever owned by the progressive liberals, should that day ever come. My gut feeling is that if that day ever arrives, this country is fucked. But now for the good news: I'll be dead by then.

Oh dont worry....there's a special Clause that renders it moot if Republicans win the pop!

Zero will be removing it from the books.

It's perfectly constitutional.

It will never have any lawful power, as it's not a constitutional amendment.

Still worth doing.

The fact that this came down to 7 states should give everyone pause.

It disenfranchises the people of an entire State of their vote if they choose the other candidate.
Since when do you care if the people of the state are disenfranchised? You sure as fuck didn't care about that in 2020 when Trump wanted to do it.

Hard to believe that people would knowingly agree to disenfranchise themselves.

So if say NY votes 60% for the Dem candidate, and the Republican one wins, all of NY's EV's go to the Republican?

How do people think that is fair, never mind constitutional?

Back to that old lie, and of course not answering the actual accusation. See my post above with NY as an example.

What lie? Trump asked state legislatures to change the electors to someone the people didn't vote for.

That's just a fact. No one is denying it. Hell, it was openly discussed at the time.

How do you live in such ignorance of reality that you can't admit this?

Oh right, you're MAGA.

Because he thought there was fraud and he was the actual winner.

This is about going against the vote of the people in the State with zero fraud involved.

Why do we even count the votes? Just have Trump tell us who the actual winner is.

Jesus, that's idiotic.

If this is the only counter argument you have, you have nothing.

How is giving say NY's EV's to a Republican Candidate if the Dem candidate got say 75% of the vote constitutional?
