It would be interesting if we could go back in time and grab a number of Founders and bring them forward into our time. Once they were brought up to date what would they recommend we do?

I have this feeing a number would say that if the election system is rigged than we no longer live in a representative democracy or constitutional republic and consequently are being taxed without representation. Some would recommend we take up arms and overthrow those who have grabbed power.

I personally don’t feel we have quite reached the point where a violent uprising is required. When the liberals start confiscating our firearms and sending Deplorables to re-eduction camps if they exercise their freedom of speech, it will be the time to fight. Right now it might be a good time for some states to consider peacefully seceding from the Union.

The world is now globalized. The U.S. does not produce what it needs, and is not self-sufficient. The global financial system is already teetering on collapse. This will cause a societal wide break down if the establishment goes to war with itself.

Anyway, they have already done an evaluation as to where the power players stand, and where things line up, they will not do this, there is no advantage to be gained. Not for the folks in power, not for the average American citizen.

Slightly more folks might have voted for Trump, but an internal war between the bureaucracy and the elected government will be more catastrophic for everyone, the folks in charge at all levels have already come to this conclusion, and there is no stomach to create a conflict over this.

Enough folks voted for Biden that it is not in the interest of the nation to create the chaos that this would cause to subvert the nation's traditions.

There are many permutations whereby this could be done with a facsimile — however preposterous — of “legality,” with claims of “defending the Constitution” against “a rigged election.” We have seen how Trump supporters explored many such options. The commander-in-chief “Presidential System” of American politics, and the impossible craving of much of our population for a return to a post-WWII world dominant U.S.A. / aka “MAGA” — all this makes our country remarkably vulnerable.

We can not assume that in future our institutions will survive a rightwing nationalist populist assault of this kind, especially if led by a more competent demagogue. Indeed, it is completely possible that this could take place with the support of the military, Wall Street, or Congress.

The alternative, a liberal Democratic drift into corporate tyranny is of course also possible, but it surely will not occur as the right conceives it. This is a thoughtful response I respect, especially coming from somebody who apparently accepts Trump’s claims that the election was stolen. Needless to say I myself reject Trump’s claims, but I do applaud your sense of responsibility and concern for nation.

I think respecting the vote of “we the people” is central to our modern representative democracy. But it would be insane to use martial law to overthrow certified and court accepted election results, especially after loosing over 50 court cases in both Democratic & Republican states.
