A Shetland pony forged an unlikely friendship when it adopted an orphaned lamb, even standing watch over her new family member at night.

They say they are surprised that the mare let the lamb nurse. That's mare's aren't usually so willing.

I'm thinking it's because she wasn't forced but came to it on her own.

Cute story though. Naturally they took the lamb away, but I wonder if the foal and mare miss him?
