50 years and counting. The west coast's dynasty of despair is consistent, if nothing else.

When Mariner players sign with the team, they automatically get a "born to lose" tattoo on their foreheads. :auiqs.jpg:

they are better than a hell of a lot of other teams....they were 5 games better than last year.....they just ran into a better team....Toronto was 20 games better than last year...

They were good enough to get close. I'll give them credit for that. Now if Houston had a GM that wasn't dedicated to grinding down and dealing away a successful program, they'd never have even gotten to the wild card round.

Houston choked....they were in first place most of the season.....played losing ball the last 2 months of the season...

Certainly did, no denying it. Had they ponied up the money and kept Bregman and Tucker, they'd have been in the post season. I know this precludes getting Correa at the trade deadline, but that trade should have been unnecessary.
That shot in the arm was the only reason they did as well as they did.

hey try being an angel fan....

He knew how to see to it the fans had an entertaining if not winning product.
there have only been a handful of players who were entertaining...and he let the most entertaining pitcher,Nolan Ryan go....

Not just entertaining, an iron man. There isn't a pitcher in the game that can go the distance and throw 200+ pitches in a game.
i was glad i got to see 2 of his no hitters.....i read the other day Ryan lost 5 no hitters going into the 9th inning....he lost a lot of 1 run games....how many would he of had if he was on a good team back then....

Learn to spend more money.

The Jays spent $255,230,405 on their team in 2025 but Seattle only spent $164,346,493

Don't worry though, the Jays are about to have judgement day as match up with LA who has spent $350,300,236.

It really is that simple.

It helps to have a good manager. Bochy goes to TX and they go from nothing to the title in one year. Same thing in SF. 3 titles in 5 yrs.

Nowadays it seems to all about the BP (if you dont have unlimited money). A Good manager seems to know who and when to make pitching changes. Dave Righetti SF pitching coach, maybe he was the real secret?

votto just because a team spends a lot of money doesnt mean their players are better...the dodgers have never won a WS when they won 100 + games...in 22 when they won 111 they choked in the DS...lost to the Padres who only won 89 games...how did that happen?...
