Golf is crazy. World number one who seems to win every tournament he enters lately is getting smashed at Beth Page. Blown out in the morning round and 3 down in the afternoon round with 8 to go.

What's crazy is when a guy comes along like him or Tiger and they seem to win all the time.Golf is crazy. World number one who seems to win every tournament he enters lately is getting smashed at Beth Page. Blown out in the morning round and 3 down in the afternoon round with 8 to go.
It's more than an off day. Through 3 Ryder Cups his record is 2-4 with 3 ties. For a world number one, that sucks. What's crazy is when a guy comes along like him or Tiger and they seem to win all the time.
He's just having an off day or week. This is not his week.
Reminds me of a baseball player being in a slump or a 3 point shooter in basketball who's lost his touch.
What about Novak Djokovic in Tennis? Won 24 majors
Scotty only has 4 majors and has never won the US Open?
Tiger has 15? Maybe Scotty will never catch him. He's already said golf doesn't fulfill him.
I once knew a girl named Beth Paige, and got smashed at her house. True story!Golf is crazy. World number one who seems to win every tournament he enters lately is getting smashed at Beth Page. Blown out in the morning round and 3 down in the afternoon round with 8 to go.
We are not talking about some shoddy municipal course. We are talking one of the premier courses in the country under pristine conditions. There will always be some element of luck, but at their level on those courses, if they miss a five foot putt, it was a bad read or a bad stroke.Yinz are missing the point. The point is this: Putting is not a science. There is AT LEAST 25% of it that is pure luck. You can hit the most perfect 5 foot putt in the history of the world, and sometimes it will be diverted away from the hole, and it's not the golfer's fault. There are INVISIBLE features on a golf green. Everything from a change in the "grain" to a microscopic footprint, caused by the fat bastard who picked his ball out of the hole two hours ago.
Commentators cannot accept the element of luck in putting, and insist on saying things like, "He pulled it," or "He just didn't see that break." Bullshit. He caught a dose of bad luck. End of story.
It's still 75 or more percent skill, which is why over a season the best players rise to the top, but to draw conclusions about putting in one round of golf is infantile and ignorant.
I think usa wanted a course they could bomb and they didn't get it.OMG this could be a historic beat down unless a miracle happens in singles tomorrow. What a thrashing on our home turf!
Did they shorten the course? I don't think they did but they did shave the rough way down. The rain also made the greens very receptive.I think usa wanted a course they could bomb and they didn't get it.
