Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday announced sanctions against judges of the International Criminal Court over an ongoing case against Israel.
The ICC has issued a warrant for the arrest of several Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in connection with their conduct in the Gaza War. The U.S. has denounced the move.
"Today, the Trump Administration is sanctioning two International Criminal Court judges directly engaged in politicized and illegitimate actions against Israel," Rubio posted on X. "The United States has been clear: we will continue to respond with significant and tangible consequences to protect against the ICC's lawfare, abuse of power, and blatant disregard for the sovereignty of the U.S. and Israel."
The United States is not a signatory to the Rome statute and is not bound by the ICC.
Everything the Palestinians touch turns to shit. The ICC has no power of its own, and now that it has issued politically motivated arrest warrants for Israelis it has lost whatever credibility it may have had.
