Texas Representative Ron Paul has been vocalizing his opposition to the Iraq war for over four years. Anyone familiar with Ron Paul's campaign probably remembers a tense moment during the 2007 GOP debate between Dr. Paul and Rudy Giuliani. Paul talked about the difference between isolationist and non-interventionist policies, refuting Mr. Giuliani's attacks. Representative Paul solidified his position, stating that the 9/11 attacks were in response to U.S. occupation. “We've been bombing them for ten years.”
Giuliani took offense to Dr. Paul's statements. He said he had never heard such an absurd explanation for the 9/11 attacks and asked that Dr. Paul retract his statement. Dr. Paul responded by citing the 9/11 Commision Report, quoting Osama Bin Laden and going into detail about the CIA's advice on“blowback.”
