In a Republic, actually
“Even as Republicans swept into power in Washington in last year’s elections, abortion rights supporters found success at the ballot box across the country. But that hasn’t deterred abortion opponents. Republican lawmakers have moved forward this year with bills to restrict abortion in more than half of the states where voters passed constitutional amendments in November to protect or expand reproductive rights.”

This is the right’s contempt for democracy, contempt for the right to privacy, and contempt for the will of the people.

No, it's the right's contempt for murder.

I suspect it has more to do with putting guardrails on the utility of abortion in place.

Mostly those were not addressed during the votes....You know, like the beyond 15 week ban some states have.

LOL.....Nice try making it a mid-term issue again, that ship has sailed.

Abortion has nothing to do with reproduction or rights--That is a democrat oxymoron for legalized murder.

What's next, legalized murder of people with purple eyes? Democrats attack the lives of those without a voice, what is to stop them from murdering whoever they choose---oh, I forgot, they've already attempted that last summer on a presidential candidate. On that, don't you find it telling that the last four assassination attempts on POTUS/ or candidates have been by democrats on republicans? Ford, Reagan and two on Trump and they were cheered by the party that claims to be concerned about democracy. SMH.
