Record-High Number of Detained Illegal Aliens are Voluntarily Leaving the Country Under Trump Administration

12 Feb 2026 ~~ By Cassandra MacDonald

Detained illegal aliens are choosing voluntary departure at the highest rate ever recorded, according to a new analysis of federal court records.

A CBS News review of decades of immigration court data shows that 28% of all completed removal cases involving detainees in 2025 ended with voluntary departure. This is higher than in any previous year on record.
The percentage has risen almost every month, reaching a high of 38% in December.
ICE detention numbers also hit a new record.
Approximately 73,000 people were held in custody in mid-January, the highest level ever reported by the Department of Homeland Security.
Immigration lawyers cited in the report acknowledged that many detainees now see little chance of success in court and are opting to leave quickly rather than remain locked up for months or years.

The increase in voluntary departures comes after the Trump administration expanded mandatory detention for anyone who entered the country illegally, restricted bond releases, and prioritized swift removals. Favorable bond rulings for detainees fell to just 30% in 2025, down from 59% the year before. Asylum grant rates dropped sharply as well, reaching only 29% by December.
DHS has reported that more than three million illegal aliens left the United States in the first year of Trump’s second term, including over 675,000 formal deportations and an estimated 2.2 million self-deportations.

Commentary:
Despite the resistance of Democrats and their hack Judges, deportations and self deportation are proceeding well.
We credit the Biden with 20 million illegal alien entries in his 4 years, at this rate we get rid of 8 million in Trump’s 4 years. We are spending 100’s of billions on them every year.
It is time to become more effective in removing these parasites that drain U.S. assets.
Trump has to crack down on employers that use illegals to work at lower wages. The monetary fines to them should be doubled, tripled even quadrupled for employers that are caught violating the law more than once.

Get them ALL OUT NOW!

And every one is one less vote for the dems....If not themselves then their progeny that are born here.

That simply can't be overstated either....The vile dems play the long game and they are fine waiting 18 years for their vote.

Damn, just make it a campaign ad. Vote Repubican., Vote American. If you are a first, or even second generation immigrant, we don't want you in the Republican Party.

Move on from the Twin Cities to several other needy Cities then flood those zones …

More like we don't want them here at all, hopefully we get them out before they breed.
I really don't think that is a winning strategy. And coming from you, and your location, it seems surprising. Maybe it is a Virginia thing.

I don't know a better example. So Dad, he inherited two farms. His parents, and Mom's parents. Hundreds of acres, some of it the finest cropland I have ever witnessed. Black soil, flows through your fingers, flippin amazing. And that land came two ways. Mom's, King's Grant, for real. What was once thousand of acres had dwindled to a couple hundred for her. Dad's side, grit, hard work, and mad poker skills. Grandpaw couldn't read or write, but he would skin your ass in a poker game.

So, for years, Dad worked his family's land. Winter wheat, corn, soybeans. Tried to turn five crops in two years. Sometimes he made money, most of the time, not. But it was a hobby, kept him busy. The maternal farm, leased our for pasture.

But Dad was a genius. In the end, he sold both farms to a Mexican. He financed it, and they never missed a payment, which was once a year. Now, that land is producing, tomatoes, peppers, I mean trucks are rolling out of there. Sure, it hurts to see it gone. But it feels good to see it producing again. And that is real work. In the end, that is what built this country, work.

Shutting these immigrants out is a mistake. Revoking Asylum status, probably a violation of international law and there by, unconstitutional if we were a party to the treaty. Like always, it is the immigrants, illegal and legal, LIKE ALWAYS, that have defined American exceptionalism.

Nobody cares about your one-offs.

Deport them all before they can breed.

I also hope SCOTUS revokes birthright citizenship too.

Only the citizens of Mexico, Canada and a few of the Caribbean countries can legally request asylum in the USA. International law doesn’t allow cherry picking the country of asylum.refugees need to request asylum in the nearest safe country.

"If you are a first, or even second generation illegal immigrant, we don't want you in any party, but the party that is leaving."

There, fixed it for you, as you are telling complete lies about the Republican party.
