Not your normal movie. It is labeled as a coming of age film, but it is more than that.
To me it is a story about the impoverished class in Britain. And a solid example of how poor kids typically live. And how inevitable it is going to be that they will become the new impoverished in the poverty grinder.
Children growing up in homes with alcoholism, and parents with very low morals who simply don't care about them. And so you have children growing up in a soulless environment with exactly zero guidance.

WARNING- We were surprised that the movie has underage full nudity. It is non-sexual, but just know that it is there. I am not sure how they get away with it. I would think this would be illegal as hell. It is done tastefully, and is a part of child hood, just surprised it is there.

It is a very good movie. Hard to say why, but it just is.

Set in Glasgow Scotland in 1973? How is it possible for the British government to let a city get so rundown that they don't even have the basics of life while the Brits still pay taxes to support the Royal Family?
