Not a lot of discussion here, but this looks like a big deal. Had Tehran not had some rain last month, the government was saying they would have to evacuate tens of thousands. Their economy is in free fall.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s largest protests in three years erupted Monday after the country’s currency plummeted to a record low against the U.S. dollar, and the head of the Central Bank resigned.

State TV reported the resignation of Mohammad Reza Farzin, while traders and shopkeepers rallied in Saadi Street in downtown Tehran as well as in the Shush neighborhood near Tehran’s main Grand Bazaar. Merchants at the market played a crucial role in the 1979 Islamic Revolution that ousted the monarchy and brought Islamists to power.

The official IRNA news agency confirmed the protests. Witnesses reported similar rallies in other major cities including Isfahan in central Iran, Shiraz in the south and Mashhad in the northeast. In some places in Tehran, police fired tear gas to disperse protesters.

Monday’s protests were the biggest since 2022, when the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Jina Amini in police custody triggered nationwide demonstrations. She was arrested by the country’s morality police for allegedly not wearing her hijab properly.

Witnesses told The Associated Press that traders shut their shops Monday and asked others to do the same. The semiofficial ILNA news agency said many businesses stopped trading even though some kept their shops open.

Golly, I would just hate to see this murderous thug got tossed out on his ear and maybe eaten by ravenous hogs or something.

People want their freedom and they feel helpless. Helplessness is a horrible feeling I assure you. As their citizens are being killed in the streets,.women in particular oppressed, the government there seems to have lost its legitimacy for some time now.

This gets coverage but the protests in the EU no so much

The last mass protest in Iran resulted in Obama taking the side of the oppressive government. Pure stupidity we could have helped to overthrow these genocidal barbarians then. Today is different.
Where are the free Palestine protesters? They support Irans oppressive government and hate Israel's democracy. Whey arent they demanding free the Iranian people. They are special kind of stupid.

Obama loved him some Islamic terrorist.. a billion for you a billion for you

Iran's currency has always been crap. When $100 US makes you a millionaire there, your currency is as diluted as it can get. It is pointless when it takes 10K Rial to buy a bottle of water to have Rial.

The Lame Stream Media is pretty much trying to bury this story, hoping that their heroes in Tehran can rally.

But President Trump isn't going to rescue them like B. Hussein O did.

It isn't a done deal yet, but it will be a great day when the mullahs' heads are displayed on pikes in Tehran.
