I used to dismiss people who said the media was engaged in a psyop. Conspiracy theorists. Surely the government wasn't involved in a concerted effort to influence public opinion through the media. Project Mockingbird is most often cited an example of such behavior, as the Church Committee uncovered that the CIA and NSA were involved in using journalists and clergy to influence public opinion on various matters in the 1960's (see below)
But now, it has come to light that the Department of Defense paid Reuters millions of dollars to engage in what was described as "large-scale social deception," between 2018 and 2022, and the AP accepted $52 million from the government through USAID. It was also discovered that POLITICO was taking millions of taxpayer dollars as well.
There needs to be a reiteration of the Church Committee. If you aren't disturbed by this, you are simply a sheep being led to slaughter. You have been played. And I for one will never trust the mainstream media again.
