This pilot is flying a Piper Archer II. A plane I have many hours flying. I qualified in 3 Piper Airplanes. She wants an IFR license that I don't have and it requires training to essentially fly blind. I have 6 hours flying this way too. 6 hours is just a start. My instructor was so good he set me up to fly IFR as a beginner.
Now what to watch for. She is chatty. She talks her way through everything. She also has an instructor who adds to the chat. He is aware she is video taping this of course. Notice how complex it looks. Now let's watch it and try to imagine you are flying the Army Helicopter that hit the passenger jet at Reagan Airport in January. Notice it was also flown by a female. Notice that female Army Pilot was also under instruction. She in other words would be chatting to the instructor. So both practiced the flight.
Skip for a moment to the passenger Jet. It was not training as I recall. Even were it also training, it was following the correct path at the correct altitude. It was following all the flight rules. See why the Helicopter pilot was not following her rules? She was to fly no higher than 100 feet altitude. The passenger jet at 300 feet. She was also at 300 feet. I believe she was busy chatting. The NTSB will issue what happened but for all of us, hope this helps you get a heads up.
Now you can understand why they banned helicopters in that area until the final ruling is issued.
