Odell Beckham, at one time, was one of the best receivers in the NFL, and he was able to get a 5 year, $100 million contract for his services.

Not enough! Odell is having trouble making ends meet, ran his mouth on Twitter, about his inability to create generational wealth, and then doesn't understand why people are livid.

He had a couple good seasons with Eli throwing him the ball, mainly when he was on a rookie contract. Once he got paid he no longer cared. I couldn't believe teams like the Rams, Browns, and Ravens throwing money at him like they did.

He is one of the most overrated WR's of all time. DeSean Jackson is another one. And I have no idea what his post is supposed to mean.

This guy only had a few good seasons and then stopped being productive.

The dude doubled down on stupid. It's bad enough that you can't handle your money, but then you run your mouth about it on social media, and then are stunned that there is backlash.

But I’m confused. I don’t follow football all that much, but are you saying he earned $100 million in five years - and is complaining?!

If he had earned 5% of that - or $1 million a year - he should have lived (exceedingly well, I might add) on $300,000….. another $300,000 for taxes….and saved the leftover $400,000. At the end of the five years, he would have had more than $2 million dollars.

Then he takes that a buys an immediate annuity, which will pay him $10,000 a month for life. And remember…..that’s for $5 million in earnings, not $100 million!

What an idiot.

Sounds like Odell blew threw his money just like thousands of other NFL players. His claim to fame is he basically invented the one handed catch. Other than that, he was a major head case and disappointment for most of his career.

That's exactly what we are saying. $20 million a year and he's complaining.

Well, if I were crazy enough to plunk down thousands of dollars a year just to sit in the freezing cold to watch 8 games live when I can see them in my livingroom for free, and I'm not, and if I were crazy enough to pay $25 just to park my car for a few hours and another $15 for a bucket of popcorn or $10 for a beer, which I'm not, which essentially pays his salary, I might want to reconsider my patronage.

The player for the Commanders (Burks) made a much tougher one-handed catch the other evening but I don't suspect he will have money thrown at him.

He already did, he was a 1st round pick of the Titans and flamed out there.

Actually, he never even really got started there, and the Titans gave up on him.

His salary is paid by you watching football on TV. Stadiums don't generate that kind of money.

Not on my TV he doesn't. I was careful to procure a TV tuner which does not report viewing patterns back on which to base advertiser rates. Nor do I buy any NFL merchandise or anything else like I once did which goes back to supporting the NFL.

Even less now that they are having this halftime kid who doesn't even speak English from some other country.

Does your TV have commercials?

I suppose but I don't watch them. Usually I time shift all of my viewing or if watching live, I change the channel. Add to that my first rule is I don't do business with anyone I see on TV, plus, in order for the tuner or DVR to report viewing habits, it needs to be connected to the internet.

Jackson IMO was something of a 21st century version of Cliff Branch, I believe he is like 2nd or 3rd of TD passes of 50 yards or more. Injury prone yes, over rated? not so much.

Uh. no. Burks catch was a much shorter 10 yard pass to the corner of the end zone. OBJ's catch was a 50 yard bomb and Odell had to make a last second adjustment to keep his feet in bounds. Way harder and it inspired the one handed catch that receivers are making all over the league now.

One big splash play every couple of games, still a solid receiver who had a long career, over 12 years on some pretty decent teams.

Beckham made the greatest catch in NFL history, starting the one handed catch, Jackson dropped the ball before crossing the goal line, that has happened twice this season. Jackson's was the most memorable before, or since. Think it was MNF.

I remember that drop by Jackson. He also had terrific punt return against the Giant's in 2010 in that 20 point comeback in the 4th quarter.

Then you are paying these athletes.
