Buy a small kitchen scale and weigh yer coffee.

Too anal retentive, and device dependent. That small variation in scoops is simply the random variation which makes all food preparation a thing to look forward to, and really, should if anything, just be further reason for you to try to get better at getting the same consistent scoops!

Besides, what is far more important is what coffee you use, how you brew it, and what brand of tennessee whiskey you add to it.

That 'small variation' can make a big difference. That's why I weigh my coffee grounds now. ;)

It shouldn't. Not with any fine coffee I've ever used. As with women and a fine malt, variety is often the spice of life, because afterwards, variation is the one thing you never have again.

Think of variety as a form of exploration, forever seeking something new and maybe, just a little bit better still.

I'm not that way. I like my rut of predictability. People with a boring life need a change of scenery ever so often. My life is complex enough and always interesting. I try to streamline and simplify where I can, such as my hack to keep shoelaces from knotting up. That's an annoyance most can do without.

You misunderstand. One of my best friends for a large part of my life was a master chef who taught me a lot about the art of food preparation--- you are taking a rather mechanistic outlook and approach to your coffee, while what I'm saying is that making great coffee is an /art/, and part of that art is in offering creativity and individuality to your preparations while at the same time, delivering excellence.

In other words, individual variation and superb coffee are not mutually exclusive if you still express yourself through them.

50 grams coffee to 300 grams of water....

That's the ratio..
