Not a common subject nowadays, more is the pity. William J Bennett is a patriot whose books naturally radiate patriotism. Here are three examples:

American Patriot's Almanac and America, The Last Best Hope -- two volumes.

How do you classify a book as "patriotic"? Stephen Hunter's Bob Lee Swagger novels seem to comply with that scenario.

Have not read fiction for decades, but will keep Stephen Hunter in mind.

I've read scores of books about American history. Our Founding, the Civil War, WWI, WWII...

One of my favorites was a book written by an infantryman in the Civil War. It was a first edition.

I wish I could remember the title or author.

I could post a very long list, but I'll just name a couple.

A Man Called Intrepid by William Stevenson.

Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation by Joseph Ellis.

I read the Forward of Founding Brothers and was turned off by the author's ego as he told what a great person he thought of himself. I almost put the book down.

But then I read it, and you know what? This guy SHOULD be proud of himself. He knocked it out of the park.

I think he won a Pulitzer for it.
