The starting point for this family hike is the parking lot on the avenue in the town of Weißenbach am Attersee. We follow the Künstlerweg towards Weißenbachtal to the federal road. After about 100 m we cross the Fachberg bridge to the right. There we orientate ourselves on the Eibenberg circular path along the Outer Weißenbach towards the south. After just a few meters we turn right and walk in the shade of the trees to the Nixenfall. This path is well signposted and (except for the last section) also suitable for strollers.
Numerous adventure stations for balancing, feeling and discovering, as well as a water wheel, make the path a highlight, especially for children. Along the way there are goblins and their stories by Marie Mohn, which the children can read or listen to as audio books using a QR code.
After a while we finally reach the impressive, approximately 50 m high waterfall, in front of which a board informs us about the legend of the mermaid at Lake Attersee and where a mermaid figure is waiting. After a break, we return along the same path to our starting point.
