recently upgraded from 8 to 16, I always have 20+ tab open in firefox of sites I visit often
ram was always around 95%
double the memory and it's still around 80% because I am not using hardly any VM
this helps with writes if you have an SSD like I do and most do now
Just an observation, should have done this years ago
 
People using AI need even more, at least 64gb.
Also a good tool is to use a memory cache cleaner that auto cleans cache at any percentage point you set and can be cleaned manually when you gave known heavy uses like rendering or video or music editing and AI programs.
 
16GB for me is plenty for now, lived with 8G for 10 years but yes if you run photoshop or any memory hungry programs you might want to look into 32 or 64
The latest boards can actually do 128 but it's going to cost you some bucks

Yeah, I had 8gb which was fine for my multi tasking, but with AI what I assumed was the stingy vram Nvidia gives us, was actually the ram maxing out. The cache cleaner helps when I push my renders to the max resolution and frames. Within the AI programs are vram cache cleaners, but I'm surprised Nvidia doesn't make up for it's stingy memory with a vram cache cleaner of it's own.
 
I just found out why there is no vram cache clear programs:
No dedicated cleaner is needed:
Most modern graphics cards automatically manage their VRAM cache efficiently, so a separate program is usually not necessary.
You can effectively clear your GPU cache by accessing settings within your graphics card driver, which essentially flushes the shader cache, effectively acting like a VRAM cache cleaner; most notably on Nvidia cards through the Nvidia Control Panel.


Accessing driver settings:
To clear the cache, go to your graphics card's control panel (like Nvidia Control Panel) and find options related to "Shader Cache" or "Texture Cache" and choose to clear or reset them.

Potential downsides of frequent clearing:
While occasionally clearing the cache can be beneficial, doing it too often might negatively impact performance as the GPU needs to recompile shaders on demand.
 
VRAM is not the issue though, I am only using 40%, when I game I close down browsers, this is just about RAM and how it can free up virtual memory so your SSD does not thrash as much, creating writes which wears it down faster then needed :)
