Chancellor Scholz explained that more refoogees arriving over the Mediterranean end up in German than in the countries they initially arrive. He joked that Germany should have a beach there. I guess, it is not the joke that caused all the criticism but the fact that he wants the refugees to be distributed fairly among the EU countries.

You are very wrong.
Germany upon being re-founded in 1949 - never extracted the Nazi part from it's history. On the contra we are far more open and educated to this topic then those Nazi-sympathizers and hangerons, during WW2, surrounding Germany.
Thus it has become inappropriate for a German to state: I am proud to be a German, not to mention a German using the word nation or national.
Lefties&Libs took their chance to portray every German that is proud of his national identity to portray him as a Nazi - and therefore successively taking control of Germany.

They have been so successful in the past 50 years - that no German party that would propagate a Germany for Germans, or e.g. no more migrants - could survive.
