If Europe's goal was to ruin Donald Trump's chances of brokering a practical diplomatic solution to the Ukraine conflict, they may have succeeded. France and Britain are both openly suggesting that they will deploy troops to the region to "help secure a peace deal" in the near term - There are very few other takers, largely because the move will undoubtedly trigger WWIII.

In fact, this is likely the intention.

With Russia making the largest territorial gains year-over-year since 2022 and Ukraine's troop strength dwindling, the end of the war looms. Either Kyiv will be forced to surrender or Trump will score a rudimentary peace agreement and a ceasefire. The best case scenario for Ukraine at present is a separation of the Donbas into Russia (one of the original reasons for the war), and a demilitarized zone with a solidified border. Ukraine has no chance of reclaiming these territories through strength of arms.

Case in point: Vladimir Putin has initiated the largest troop call-up since 2011, mobilizing over 160,000 men with no signs of slowing Russia's recruitment efforts. The spring call-up for military service came several months after Putin said Russia should increase the overall size of its military to almost 2.39 million and its number of active servicemen to 1.5 million.

Moscow Targets Ukrainian Areas Including Kiev With Missiles

Russia launched multiple ballistic missiles towards Ukraine, also targeting the capital Kiev, the Kyiv Independent reported on Sunday, citing Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Klitschko spoke of explosions, three injuries, a partially destroyed office block and falling debris from damaged buildings. Fires were also reported in several districts of the capital. Rescue workers were sent to tend to the injured.

Klitschko later announced that a man had been found dead on a street that had been hit by the attack.

According to the Kyiv Independent, Russian attacks hit targets throughout Ukraine overnight.

The Belarusian Customs Service stopped the importation of the largest consignment of explosives in the history of Belarus into the territory of the EEU.

A 41-year-old driver tried to smuggle 580 kg of particularly powerful explosives of foreign origin (presumably USA) across the Belarusian-Polish border and further transported to Russia.

He was traveling through the checkpoint “Brest” in a Mercedes vehicle. Based on the risk analysis system, the customs officers sent the car for scanning with the use of inspection and examination complex.

On the scanogram they saw uncharacteristic darkening in the area of the floor of the car, as well as in the wall separating the cargo and passenger compartments.

Further - in-depth inspection, which resulted in partial dismantling of the floor and wall of the car. These places turned out to be completely filled with a thick layer of light gray and light yellow substance.

Presumably, the explosive substance was attempted to be concealed by covering it with vibration-noise insulation sheets and chipboard sheets. In order to prevent service dogs from reacting to it, the inner edges of the body were treated with technical grease.
The substance was extracted with the involvement of competent specialists.
Promptly conducted by the Customs Laboratory examination confirmed that the detected substance is a powerful high explosive pentaerythritol tetranitrate (TEN) with a total amount of more than 580 kg.

The driver was detained.
