Under the National Popular Vote compact, member states agree to allocate their electors to "to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia."

As we know, in 2024, that was DJ Trump.

The National Popular Vote Compact has been enacted into law by 17 states and the District of Columbia, including 5 small states (DE, HI, ME, RI, VT), 9 medium-sized states (CO, CT, MD, MA, MN, NJ, NM, OR, WA), and 3 big states (CA, IL, NY). These jurisdictions have 209 of the 270 electoral votes needed to activate the law.

So, if the NPVC had been in effect for the 2024 election, the result would have looked like this:

18 to 520.

Now, who here honestly thinks CA NY NJ IL et al would have honored their commitment to the compact and given their EVs to Trump?

I am not for winner take all. If a congressional district gets a majority of the votes, while another candidate gets the rest of the state, I will want that elector to go to the candidate that won that district.

Yeah, the back peddling is something to behold.

They really need to amend that law, stating that this only happens if it helps democrats, otherwise they won't follow the compact.
