I grew up in a small New England city and have some fond memories of the place. But things there are strange there, really strange. Ok, most of the people there are of a liberal mind. That means that they love the government and believe the government is wonderful. It means that they believe the government is composed of special people that want only the best for citizens who value their liberties and personal freedoms. I am not sure if they have forgotten what the founders of our country said about a limited government or if they just don’t care.
What did we learn in school about powerful governments? We learned that that those governments all had a central plan. We learned that the plan was important for those governments not the people under the control of those governments. During the cold war when the citizens of the former Soviet Union all wanted washing machines and televisions, they got missiles and tires for military vehicles because the Russians had a central plan and the Russian government that said it wanted the best for the people, stuck to that plan because that is what they believed a government was for.
Governments with a central plan do not consider average people smart enough to make decisions for their own good. So, they develop a central plan to make sure that the people do not interfere with the government’s intentions to make the world good for the people. A lot of people in East Germany during the Cold War did not understand the wonderfulness of government central planning so they began fleeing to west. It wasn’t just rank and file citizens that could not understand the government’s superiority. Professionals and intellectuals were among the escapees which resulted in a brain drain so the East German government built a huge wall to keep the people in not out.
They also used propaganda to capture the minds of the people turning neighbor against neighbor encouraging citizens to inform on each other for the good of the government. The press was part of something called a Stasi or secret police which was a state-run system to control the population. The people only heard bad things about anyone or any organization that did not genuflect to the government’s central planning. East Germany and its wall came down for a reason but that is lost on my home city and places like it.
It has signed on to government central planning. It is called “Sustainability”. What is Sustainability? It is a central plan to join with global entities to promote the notion that average people will wreck the world if they do not submit to a new order with an all-powerful world government. Sustainability has grand ambitions that make the Soviet Union and East Germany look like amateurs. It has goals for economic, environmental, and social initiatives that require the enslavement of the entire globe not just one country. Sustainability is the central plan of all central plans, and it actually accuses individuals of destroying the weather if they do not comply.
The country regards places like my old city as dangerous outliers to our constitution which is why they rejected Kamala Harris as president while that city fell all over itself to put her in charge. The city's central planning is no different than the central planning of the Former Soviet Union or East Germany. In fact, it is worse. How did this happen?
