Has anyone been following the saga of the NYT accusing a veteran ,tennis broadcaster for being a racist for describing one of Venus William's moves in the Australian tennis match as "guerilla tactics"? The NYT didn't understand the broadcaster was referring to "guerilla tactics ' , a phrase commonly used to describe a certain type of aggressive playing and thought he was referring to Venus as a "gorilla". The NYT accusation went viral over Twitter, and ESPN fired the 8 year veteran broadcaster on the spot, without doing any investigation. I just heard the veteran broadcaster say when he asked them why they was firing him since he hadn't done anything wrong , he was told "It is easier to fire you than fight with the NYT and Twitter."
