I got to thinking, Passover was about throngs of people celebrating Jesus entering Jerusalem as a king of the people, laying palm branches out before him as they praised him.
But about a week later they all abandoned him to the cross, disillusioned as their expectations of the man did not measure up to his actions, including his most devoted follower Peter who denied Jesus 3 times as he hung dying. They expected Jesus to initiate revolution to be free from the persecution of Rome, but got something entirely different instead.
How many people here feel just as disillusioned with God?
We have a similar passage in scripture after the miracle of the loaves and fish as Jesus fed the multitude. Shortly afterward, people again wanted to make him king, but to the dismay of his disciples he silently left them all and disappeared instead.
Does anyone think that God gets just as frustrated with humanity as humanity gets with him? We even see Jesus praying right before his crucifixion to be delivered from the cross if there was any other way, yet no response was given and perhaps his only prayer left unanswered.
Is free will worth all the mess?
