Food that cost me over $9 bucks per item a couple weeks ago only costs $6.26. Steak hasn't gone down yet....but I'm seeing a lot of other food items that have dropped as much as 30% in the last couple of weeks.

I was shopping in Walmart and just about everything has gone down in price here in TN.

It's not reflected in the news yet, but the reports are going to be coming out at the end of the month.

I'm seeing cans of soup that last month were over $3 are now $1.98.

I wouldn't have noticed it if the price drop had been a few cents.....but it was over $3 on the scrimp scampi I like to buy.
Then I started looking around and a lot of things went down in price.

RACIST! TROGLODYTE! STORY TELLER! .....

Did I do it right?

Not in my AO. It's more than ever.

That said a shit-ton of houses are currently for sale so maybe the prices will come down.
Northeast 10 to 15 % drop in past 6 months

Grocery prices seem reasonable.

Prices are up in this area and the inventory is adequate, but a building boom is coming that I believe will lower RE prices. I wonder where the jobs and money are going to come from---same thing I noticed leading up to the crash in 2006. Will history repeat?

From the reviews on the producer's web site, it looks like the shrimp are much smaller now and they have also lowered the amount you get from 12 oz to 10oz.

Itty, Bitty Shrimp

This product used to be good. The Shrimp have gotten smaller over time, and are now tiny. If you cook them according to any of the cooking instructions on the box, they come out tough and rubbery, even if you cut back on the cooking time.

The worst out of 4 different types and locations

Have been purchasing SeaPak Shrimp Scampi for more years than I can remember and it has ALWAYS been the favorite - than is until recently. Noticed the package was a little different also noted the weight went from, 12 ounces to 10 ounces. Once I cooked them was the biggest difference - sauce not as good and the shrimp were tooooooooo tough to eat. Thought maybe was just a bad batch but the most recent I purchased was the same - BAD!!! I had a shrimp week recently - had shrimp from our local Akita Restaurant - Morristown TN - delicious and tender; shrimp from seafood dept at Food City Morristown TN and Gortons fried shrimp and Sea Pak Shrimp Scampi. 3 out of 4 were delicious and the loser was Sea PakShrimp Scampi.

I myself like the higher quality Sunset Shrimp Scampi sold by Margaritaville Foods. And the shrimp are pretty big, too. Near as big as my finger. Good stuff.

Of course, as always, you get what you pay for...

As to that low grade stuff you posted a picture of, I had bought a box of that some time ago just to try becase the store was out of my Margaritaville stuff and it was the most bottom of the barrel shrimp scampi I've ever had in my life. Never seen such tiny litle baby shrimp. Very low quality, too, didn't even really taste like good shrimp scampi. Was like eating little tiny pieces of rubber. And the sauce sucked.

The Shrimp look the same size to me.
10 oz is 10 oz

But they were more expensive when they were more recently sold in 120z boxes and when the shrimp weren't quite as microscopic.

Anyway. You can have that garbage. Like I said..it's pretty much bottom of the barrel by my standard of living.

May as well pick up Wally World's bottom of the barrel''Great Value'' Thanksgiving meal while you're in there if that's your thing.

Shit. What's next?

"Real estate prices are coming down. I moved into a cheap shed and it's just great. Things are looking up!"

Or you could go to Safeway and pay $2.97/lb for the same Butterball turkey that you can get at Walmart for $0.97/lb. Your choice.

Or I can do precisely what I'm already doing, which doesn't involve in any way Wally World, Butterball or Safeway.

I'm going to enjoy a nice fresh turkey with all of the good trimmings and dishes made country fresh. No Great Value boxes. No Great Value cans or bottles or jars. No Great Value packets of mystery powder. None of that bottom of the barrel garbage you MAGA wingnuts are pomoting as living the high life.
