After the unfortunate death of Shemp, Moe wanted to bring in Moreland, a brother to replace his brother.

Columbia wouldn't sign him, mainly because they wanted someone they already had under contract, Joe Besser.

Imagine the stir today if Moe had his way back in 1956. He'd be looked at as a nazi and a racist for slapping and poking the eyes out of a black guy.
