We'll never know the suspect's side of it...but citizen's arrest can go wrong.

I say let law enforcement handle such things.

I want to arrest someone while holding a gun in both hands, and ask the perp "Feeling lucky, punk? I'm placing you under arrest."

👮‍♂️

Right let law enforcement handle things after guy breaks into your house and harms/kills your family member...

We do need to get rid of citizen's arrest.

Those are the risks of committing crimes. But since 99.9999% of all deaths occur under professional police presence, then I like my odds under citizen's arrest where only 0.00001% of all deaths occur!

If you defund the police and abolish citizens arrest the next logical step is to legalize all crime. The purge every day, all day.

Making a citizen’s arrest is a risky thing to do.

Hell, in legal terms, these days it’s risky for cops to make an arrest.
Making a citizen's arrest is the only to arrest someone for a misdemeanor if the cops are not present when it happens. The cops can direct the witness to make the arrest with the cops actually carrying it out.

I guess that depends on what state you’re in. I know cops can make an arrest in NY for a misdemeanor committed outside of their presence.
