Have you heard of the 5 families in NYC ???
I have.
But I was raised in Connecticut, and it was also all mobbed up.
So was the union I was forced to join when I got a job at a grocery store. The AFL-CIO.
A Right To Work bill was up for debate at the state Capitol and I went to speak in favor of it. The Right to Work bill would have given us worker bees the right to opt out of the union.
About seven of us kids showed up at the Capitol, and about 500 mobsters in three piece suits showed up to oppose, including the Vice President of the union.
It became very obvious very quickly the Senate committee was bought and paid for. The Senators gushed and praised the union reps, but whenever a kid spoke, the Senators ripped them to pieces.
So when my turn came, I said, "I can see you've already made up your minds so..." and then I ripped up my speech and threw it in the air. Then I said a few words off the cuff, stood up, faced the Vice President up in the balcony and gave the union raised fist I had seen them exchanging with one another.
500 men booed at the same time.
Then two fat fucks began following me around the Capitol, so I had fun walking all the way up to and around the dome of the Capitol, with them huffing and puffing the whole time.
When I got back down to the chamber, I saw a news team interviewing the VP and so I walked over. The cameraman, god bless him, saw the two thugs following me, and swung his camera around to catch them on film.
They immediately vanished.
When the VP was done, I asked the lady reporter if she would like to hear the other side of the issue, and she put me on the news.
Here's the weird thing. It took me 45 minutes to get to work and my boss was standing out front waiting for me. He shouted, "WHAT DID YOU DO!?!"
And here I thought management was on the opposing team of the union. Oh, well.
But then he gave me a big grin for my chutzpah.
For weeks afterward, we received threatening phone calls at home. Chickenshit bastards.
