As some who's lived in Vegas more than 30 years, this cover-up doesn't surprise me. Read all of the post @ Las Vegas Strip Shootout Is Just Latest in String of Recent Violence | TIME.com

The casino's are very sensitive about any negative publicity and LV Metro goes along with it. They actually hate the CSI series.

And it really bugs me to see that name instead of Barbary Coast on a corner where the Ladies of the Evening used to hang out.

There was little random violence because the violent met a quick end. That and hanging judges.

Every year there was a shooting in Las Vegas.
Nothing new. It was like that when I lived there.
