A fifteen-year-old boy was killed by a Nicaraguan illegal who was driving drunk in Louisiana on Thursday night.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office shared that the boy was riding his bicycle when Juan Alfredo Chavarria Lezama, 31, allegedly ran him over before fleeing the scene.

The boy was airlifted to an area hospital but died from the injuries.

Ultimately, the driver was identified as Lezama and apprehended a short time later.

Sheriff Jason Ard shared, “The 15-year-old male was airlifted to a local hospital where he would later succumb to his injuries.”

“Impairment (on the part of the driver) was observed at the scene.”

“Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver was over two times the legal Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) limit. The driver of the vehicle is now in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.”

Sheriff Ard later confirmed that Lezama is an illegal from Nicaragua.

“He’s an undocumented male, a Hispanic male, here illegally from what we’re gathering. He does have an ICE detainer at the time.

Crime itself is destructive and enraging. It's far worse when it was completely avoidable.

Children be careful out there. Riding a bike at night is suicide. Probably n light? No shirt. Very hot LA weather. Oblivious. Sometimes watching cellphone 1-handed w/earphones.
Two on a bike...often. hard enough to see in daytime.

Seen it all. Done it all too. Amazingly still alive. I can name 3-4 miracle survival. God saved me? For what?

True story, I was once hit by a pickup truck as I crossed the street. I flew, my school bag did flew and I rolled into the median of the road to avoid any traffic that could hit me. I walked off somewhat injured but had the character/principle not to pursue the man in court.

Call me crazy but I hope G-d rewards me some day.
