this is the one Greek sentence in an otherwise Latin liturgy.
I have heard and said or sung it often in Church.
Do you know it as well?

Did not even know it's meaning until you posted, and I verified. Not heard in Methodist/Baptist congregations much.

Many times. I was an altar boy when Latin was still used at Mass. I was the server for baptisms, confirmations, Easter, etc etc. I still can repeat much of it.

Church latin (not the same as the classical Latin that was taught in schools) was a cool bit of Catholic esoterica for a long time. We Catholics would have our St. Joseph's Daily Missal during Mass, following the English and Latin text on opposite sides. Common phrases used in the Mass were known by all Catholics. It never occurred to me that Kyrie Eleison was actually Greek.
