Drivers in the Los Angeles area kill more pedestrians than do drivers in any other area in the United States.

I have just read about how Iceland tries to protect pedestrians.

It seems that crosswalks in that island nation are raised to the height of the sidewalks.

Thus, drivers instinctively slow down when approaching a crosswalk, lest they damage their cars.

(Of course, there are also some careless pedestrians.)

Anyone who doesn't drive in LA deserves to be run over.

I think the average street in LA is wider, therefore the pedestrian is exposed for a longer time. Also, drivers, who are forced to travel at 3mph on LA's "highways," are so excited to be on a surface street that they drive exuberantly.

Some of them likely needed killing.
