Just finished watching Poltergeist II: The Other Side........

It's nowhere near as good as the original Poltergeist, but the special effects are quite good. If you've never seen this one check it out.

That is usually the only thing improved by sequels and reissues is a clean up of the special effects. They often use those effects as a cover for bad writing.

When the original Poltergeist came out in the 1970s, these types of effects were new and just becoming possible, the reason why such movies began getting made.

I actually did some checking though and if you replace your picture tube to get rid of the old one because it became possessed by a spirit, the manufacturer's warranty won't cover that.

1970s? The original Poltergeist movie came out in 1982, the same year as E.T. And I have for years told anyone who would listen that while P2 isn't a great SEQUEL, it IS a fun horror movie to be watched on it's own. I traditionally do not care for sequels that retcon specific plot points of the original movie, like P2 absolutely does, but it has been a favorite of mine since originally being introduced to it a MUCH too young age in hindsight.

God is in his holy temple...
