It only takes one look at Matt Gaetz's face to understand why he has to pay for sex.
More than one Congressman has told the media Gaetz would show off photos of his naked prostitutes on the House floor. This is not a man who is well-loved by his peers.
There are phone records of Gaetz's payments to hookers.
It turns out one of them was underaged.
Allegedly.
That kid is now in her 20s, and she has subpoenaed Gaetz for a deposition in a lawsuit filed by a friend of Gaetz, Chris Dorworth.
Another friend of Gaetz, Joel Greenberg, has already been sentenced to 11 years in prison for wire fraud and sex trafficking a minor.
Dorworth is suing the underaged (at the time) hooker and Greenberg for accusing him of being part of the whole scheme.
To defend herself, the hooker has subpoenaed Gaetz to back up her testimony.
So he's going to be asked under oath about paying an underaged prostitute for sex.
Does she have the receipts? Maybe. Gaetz liked to pay for his hookers electronically, using his friend as a cutout. He would pay the friend, and the friend would pay the hookers.
The House Ethics Committee has had a long-running investigation into Gaetz for his buying of hookers and illicit drug use. They suspended their investigation while the DOJ looked into all this.
Now that the committee has the DOJ records, they have resumed their investigation. They are being extremely close-lipped, as they should be until they release their findings.
Kevin McCarthy claims one of the motives behind Matt Gaetz's effort to unseat him as Speaker was because McCarthy refused to kill the ethics investigation.
The deposition was been put off from April to June. This is June. No specific date is available at this time.
Here's the ethic committee report: House Report 116-479 - IN THE MATTER OF ALLEGATIONS RELATING TO REPRESENTATIVE MATT GAETZ
