It really is amazing how shortsighted people from both sides are they try and pass something really stupid for short term gain when they are in the majority seemingly thinking the other side won't take what you did and use it their advantage when they are the majority again. Harry Reid and the Democrats did this in 2013 to get lower court justices and cabinet nominees confirmed on a simple majority vote instead of the 60 it had been worked out real well for them when the Republicans took the Senate in 2014 and the Presidency in 2016. To be fair Mitch McConnell and the Republicans did the same thing under the Trump Presidency for Supreme Court nominees which Biden and the Democrats are now going to use to their advantage. People should be thankful for Manchin and Sinema stopping the Democrats stupid push to end the filibuster at best that results in each party passing anything they want on party line votes and the other undoing what they passed and passing whatever they want on party line votes when they are the majority at worst it leads to one party rule which historically leads to resentment, anger, violence, a real insurrection and finally a civil war.
