It's That Time Again.....SCOTUS Decisions

First case is the "First Step Act" involving firearms offenders. I'm gonna be honest, this one seems deep in the weeds. Anyway, 5-4 decision

I support mandatory sentences for certain gun crimes so not a decision I support.

Next on is a loss for Planned Parenthood: can citizens file federal rights violations if states do not allow Medicaid funds to PP. The answer is no, they cannot

Death Row inmates can sue to get a state to further investigate their claims of innocence. (simplified)

The last one is a deportation suit, it looks like 5-4. No birthright decision today.

I just remember when Virginia's prisons were filled with 5-year mandatory felony sentences for simple pot possession.

It least they usually made parole their first time up but talk about your overcrowding! We had them stacked three high in the cellhouses.

Simply put Virginia's prisons were not ready (at the time) for that type of sentencing.
