If you read the Bible (yes, some of you Christians really need to do that) the majority of people living in the Kingdoms of Judah and Israel worshipped Baal and the other Cannanite Gods, including their kings.

No, what affords me special rights is I was born here and served my country, and my father (despite not being born here) served his country.
