Israel has decided not to reopen the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt tomorrow, as demanded by the ceasefire deal, sanctioning Hamas over its failure to stand by its commitment to return the bodies of all dead hostages it is still holding in the Strip.

Israel will also reduce the amount of aid flowing into Gaza as part of the sanctions against the terror group.

The moves come following assessments by Israeli defense officials that Hamas has not made significant efforts to return the remaining bodies of the hostages.

Yesterday, the terror group released 20 living hostages and transferred the bodies of four dead hostages, with 24 bodies still remaining in Gaza.

So it appears Hamas has already reneged on the deal.

What excuse is Hamas giving for not returning the other bodies?

Could they contain evidence of torture ?

Yea, this didn't last long.

I have to be honest here; I think it a huge mistake to prisoner swap as it will only encourage them to take more hostages in the future. To give Hamas 2000 back of their most hardened fighters who will kill again, for only 20 Israelis? It makes zero sense.

And to be honest, the prisoners Israel did have, they should have been put to death for killing other Israelis.

The ceasefire is still holding, it's the reciprocal givebacks that are on hold because Hamas wants to hide evidence of mutilation and torture.
The ceasefire is contingent on Hamas fulfilling its obligations under the deal and once all the bodies have been returned phase two requires Hamas to disarm, so Hamas may be holding the bodies to avoid having to disarm to continue the ceasefire.

COuld be. Again, this is not something I would blame on the Trump Admin, or the Israelis at this point.

I'm not sure that reasoning applies anymore. The Trump deal requires Hamas to disarm to keep the ceasefire in effect, and once Hamas disarms, it will not be able to take more hostages, in fact, it may not be able to survive the wrath of the clans that blame Hamas for all the suffering it has caused to the people of Gaza.

Treating terrorists as people you can agree to anything in good faith is just plain nuts.

They simply need to be removed.

In terms of Israel's security, they simply need to be disarmed, and if that can be done peacefully, it will be better for both Israel and the so called Palestinians, but otherwise the war must continue until they are forcibly disarmed.

Yael Levontin.

Maybe the mediators buy Hamas’s bs that they “can’t find the abductees’ bodies” — but we don’t.
For over eleven years they’ve been holding the body of our hero, Hadar Goldin. Until October 7 he was their most valuable asset for years — a bargaining chip to trade for them . And suddenly now they’ve “forgotten” where they kept his body? Enough.
Return them all, every last one, or they’ll find themselves buried in the ruins of Gaza — that’s the only deal that should be carried out now.

Jews need a break so they can bomb Iran. Once Iran is destroyed, they will finish exterminating the Palestinians.
