(Bloomberg) -- Israel will start negotiations on a second phase of the ceasefire with Hamas as early as this week, aiming for the complete dismantling of the Palestinian group in Gaza.

Discussions to extend the initial six-week truce and secure the rest of the hostages held by Hamas will start in coming days, Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar said. Should the next stage of talks prove constructive, the current ceasefire framework may be extended when it expires in early March, he said told reporters on Tuesday.

In the draft of phase II of the ceasefire agreement, Israel was to completely withdraw from Gaza in stages in exchange for the release of the rest of the hostages, but clearly that is not going to happen -thank you, Donald, and f**k you, Dopey Joe - instead Phase II will lead to the negotiated dismantling of Hamas or the resumption of the war to eradicate Hamas.

It's gone on for far too long. Citizens on both sides want their lives back.

Hamas should take the deal in which they can be given shelter in another country, at least from what I have heard had been offered. They cannot remain the government there.

They cannot remain in the government and they must disarm or be disarmed.

Unless Iran is going to be forced to stop supplying groups like Hamas all of this is just feel goods.

So.................... "all hell" didn't break loose?

If Israel controls Gaza's border with Egypt, then Iranian weapons will not be able to enter Gaza, and - surprise, surprise - the new Syrian government is blocking Iran's supply routes to Hezbollah.
