The ancient call to prayer was initiated because Muslims didn't have clocks or watches. Today everyone has some way of telling the time, no need to blast the call to prayer through loudspeakers. The Muslims are doing this to annoy non-Muslims, goading them into doing something drastic that they can use a political lever. Most cities have nuisance noise ordinances against such disturbances. Why they aren't used is puzzling.

Growing up the Catholic Church would ring its bells every hour on the hour. Then it would ring the hours. 12 noon was a lot of bells.

We had such bells as well. One large church was only three blocks from my house. They weren't disturbing at all, in fact we hardly noticed them.

They follow that same tradition in Muslim countries so it's not just meant to annoy you.

I doubt if anyone complains in Muslim countries.

NYC mayor Mandani is allowing the Muslim call to prayer to be played over the 9-11 memorial.
It is sort of a victory dance for the Islamists.
