I do not use "modern medicine" unless I must. I was lucky before I moved to the Midwest, and had a friend who was an ARNP upon whom I could rely if I needed honest medical care.

I started my career in medical support in 1978, with a doctor who had farmers as patients, and would happily accept garden produce and butchered livestock as payment. I aspired to be like him.

I got lucky and got talked out of continuing any medical education by someone who knew exactly what practicing medicine would turn into.

I used to be a practicing herbologist, I even blended my own and made capsules as remedies for people. I kept something like 60 or so herbs in house.

There are a lot of good herbs and they can do a lot of good, but they tend to work slowly and correctively steering an illness rather than the quick by harsh effects of many modern synthetic drugs.

I was wondering who else noticed that. So they say something like, "....may cause constipation, low libido, headaches, drowsiness, confusion, sweating, nausea,...." But otherwise it works great!

Actually, herbs can have side effects. For example, eating too much kale can cause kidney stones. That being said, most pharmaceuticals are designed to have side effects, both positive and negative. Their hope is that the positive side effects outweigh the negative ones.
