I haven’t watched the Ken Burns docuseries yet on the American Revolution, but when I do, I will keep a watchful eye on the content. The timing seems weird and targeted. I know what Trump Derangement Syndrome is and Burns could reflect that. With enhanced AI in modern technology, do you think it is possible that some forms of deceitful propaganda could be disguised as educational? As I stated before, the timing gives me pause. Donald Trump’s election and subsequent re-election caused a great rift in the country. That rift goes far beyond the differences between liberal and conservative minds.

Trump threatens some established platforms, and he has had some success in exposing the corruption these platforms are built on. Now the game is on, and it looks like what could be a zero-sum game for some. There have been two assassination attempts against Trump and one successful bullet takedown of a Trump friendly conservative voice, Charlie Kirk. Trump appears to have won the minds of enough of the people to overthrow some established platforms-Department of Education etc. So, what Trump is doing could be seen as taking back minds.

Propaganda can take many sneaky forms. A docuseries produced by a revered and respected filmmaker could be a powerful propaganda coup to discredit the legitimacy of a leader that does not lead in the direction of established platforms. I encourage you to watch the series but keep a skeptical lens on as you watch it.

.

I used to like Burns.

.

Burns goes off the rails into woke nonsense literally in the first three minutes of the first episode.

See for yourself, Burns suggests A) the Iroquois Native American tribes had a flourishing democracy centuries before the whites ever showed up and B) Benjamin Franklin suggested we adopt a democracy only after seeing how the natives already had one themselves.

That would really be sad.

I haven't seem much of Burns' work if any. I hear him praised so much in the media as if he is somehow above and beyond a typical documentary maker. So, my assumption is that he takes a left-wing/liberal/Democratic Party slant, which is how one earns such accolades.

But that is normal, has been for decades. If he really has turned his efforts into pure Trump-bashing, even in historic documentaries, then our young will lose access to factual history with a political bent, to be replaced by pure propaganda.

Lord.

I see now why I don't watch his crap.

I watched the American revolution series. There is a lot of attention paid to the wrongs that black people and native Americans suffered. The series also portrays Washington and other founders in a more negative light than previous history endeavors. In places, especially in the last episode, there is more sympathy for England than I remember from other historical films.
All in all I would rate it one of Ken Burns lessor achievements. It certainly doesn't compare to the series about the civil war.

That's the most pathetic attempt to justify the cancellation of funding for CFPB I've ever seen.

I have enjoyed Burn's work on other stuff and have learned new things from them but this just seems woke.

The Iroquois had a democracy and slavery.. in the deepest snows of the northern winters they ate the slaves before the dogs.

Benjamin Franklin did not suggest democracy. The men of the time were well educated in the dangers of Athenian democracy (came from the Greeks) and created a Constitutional Republic.

if this is the crap garbage being pedaled I can't bear to watch it.

We have the reading materials that we have. How does someone 'document' something from 250 years ago? Make a movie, sure. See Mel's The Passion of the Christ. But when you claim to be documenting something that you know nothing about, I give paws.
