Even US naval ships with mass infections.

Two tragic and failed wars, a China ever pressing the USA in the South China Sea.

A political culture with no new or creative ideas, so the Democrats nominate a Joe Biden who is not mentally acute and has no ideas to move the country forward to the future.

The highest prison population in the free world, highest poverty rates in the developed democratic world, highest drug use and addiction rates, highest suicide rates.

Anger everywhere.

That is a good point, several American administrations bought into the global community idea at the expense of national self interest for decades, largely in the economic sphere.

It has cost America dearly economically, cheap goods in exchange for declining living standards.

The winners in this, mostly China, never deluded themselves into believing there was such a thing as free trade.

They practice mercantilism. Managed trade, protect weakness seek market access where you are strong. Even steal intellectual property outright.

This is one area where I agree with Trump the Chinese economic free ride had to be reigned in.

Of course America is an empire, nothing wrong with that, all strong nations which dominate the globe sooner or later become empires. In fact America was an empire before she dominated the globe.

America is an empire like Republican Rome.

America has used military force to take territory from other nations outright, in raw military conquest, such as the Indian wars, Mexican - American War, Spanish - American War (America killed 100,000 Filipino freedom fighters after she kicked the Spanish out in that one and turned the place into an outright colony) and post World War Two America has used both military, covert and economic pressure to force much of the world to do what America thinks is in her self interest.

Even overthrowing elected government some times.

Now I will give the American empire this, it has, until recently, been very good at pursuing the interests of the American empire with carrots as often as sticks, through cultural or soft power and economic aid, but when push comes to shove America, like all empires, will use raw force.
