I respected my grandfather greatly. Even though he was a man of faith he was convinced that if the U.S hadn't dropped the bomb on Japan that war would have gone on for many more years. His opinion caught me by surprise as I didn't like the use of the bomb, but it wasn't my era.

His quote to me though, "those who love war have never fought in one" will resonate me until the day I die and it guided my broader position on life. If peace can be made it must be taken.

If Zelensky pulled a bait and switch at the behest of someone else he applied really poor calculation. It seems he is trying to be Gen Patton when the rest of the world wants to move on and focus on economic activity and America wants to cut down their debt.
