To be fair, if you read down through the article, Intel is cutting back in several states saying that Intel is no longer even in the top 10 due to demand for chips being down and the effects of AI.

No. The good news: the one place I could see AI doing a lot of good would be to replace all of the judges and lawyers with AI computers. Can you imagine the transformation of the legal system if all of the subjective parliamentary rulings of irascible judges, and lawyers hell bent on either convicting someone or getting them off simply to boost ones own CV were all taken away by AI who could at once look at the legal basis for each case for every person fairly and uniformly?

I'm starting to think that won't be the case.

AI needs WAY more energy than the grid can supply, and the costs for the data centers can't outrun the P&L numbers.

They're talking tens of trillions to flesh out the AI infrastructure, and there's no way they can recoup enough to cover the interest on the necessary loans, let alone the principal.

About a month or so ago, I heard a Silicon Valley big shot commenting that every P&L model he ran the profits can't outrun the costs...I'm smelling another .com bust here.
