Increase in solar almost keeping up with the increase in demand

You keep beating on that drum but nobody's buying it. NG and Nuke is where it's at for reliable electricity on demand.

That said if folks want to mess with solar that's just fine but don't expect me to subsidize it for them.

China, India, Pakistan, building hundreds of coal-fired power plants.

And see:

The increase in demand has been a worry for our grid. But right now the increase in new solar is almost keeping up with the increase in demand. Had we a sane admin, it would exceed the increase in demand, and have a cushion for further increases in demand.

The bullcrap goes on and on and on, an industry that needs massive tax breaks to get it moving but when the government support ends the decline of the bird choppers begins while they continue to reap their tax breaks which for Buffet was over 10 BILLION dollars in just a few years.

Since Solar is a poor investment as recent solar "tax breaks" farms have closed including the world biggest.

Give it up as you are not fooling anyone anymore.

In 2025, the U.S. is expected to install approximately 43 gigawatts (GW) of new solar capacity, contributing significantly to the country's renewable energy growth.

Context

The growth in solar capacity reflects a broader trend towards renewable energy in the U.S., with solar energy becoming a leading source of new electricity generation. This increase is driven by various factors, including technological advancements, policy support, and a growing emphasis on clean energy solutions to combat climate change. As the U.S. continues to transition towards a more sustainable energy system, solar power is expected to play a crucial role in meeting future energy demands.

India;

24.5 GW
In 2024, India installed a record 24.5 GW of solar power capacity, marking a significant increase in renewable energy capacity. This growth is attributed to various initiatives and projects, including the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which facilitated the installation of 7 lakh rooftop solar systems within just 10 months of its launch. The total installed renewable energy capacity in India reached 209.44 GW as of December 2024, with solar energy contributing approximately 47% to this total. The increase in solar installations reflects India's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio and reducing its reliance on fossil fuels.

I agree, but...

The problem is there are millions of morons out there like Old Rocks who believe they are bursting with virtue and so enlightened that they are entitled to take money and property from you by force.

And if you object?? As Doom Goblin Greta Thuneberg said, "How dare you!!!"

Now aren’t you ashamed of yourself?? ;)

LOL

Nameplate capacity is hardly actual production capacity.

Why do you think India is mining record amounts of coal? To feed their increasing number of coal-fired power plants that can produce nameplate capacity 24/7.

Well, dumb ****, it is not I who is installing solar, it is the bean counters at the utilities. Even without subsidies, solar is still the least expensive way to generate electricity.

Nope, right proud of myself in fact.

Nobody would even care about solar and wind if those that promote and use it would pay for it themselves and not turn it into a political grift stream.

Or in states like TX that will run roughshod over landowners through eminent domain to run transmission lines across their properties so third party entities can profit.

Then mandate that all the AI data centers run on solar.

It's more than just a grift, it's deliberately working to weaken our power grid.

California is a mess. Having to import electricity and fuel... the Establishment is trying to impose artificial shortages nationally.

Shortages will justify rationing, and rationing will justify more authoritarian power for the government.

It's a tried and true tactic.

<mathing> That's only 20 W/m^2 ... use Chinese panels, they get better than 200 W/m^2 don't they? ... </mathing>

Reread posts #6-8 here again to see what diseases these data centers create? ...
LOL....I suck at "mathing".....Pretty good at common sense though.

Data Centers are the devil. They have the power usage to turn cheap and plentiful electricity into expensive and spotty electricity. And for what?

I'd be lying if one morning the whole of NOtVA (data center alley) turned on their light switches and nothing happened so I could tell them "I told you so". ;)

They're also water whores ... cooling systems ... we need nukes right now and AI will compel us to build them ... human safety gets thrown out the window ...
