I guess it also speaks to the problem of chain migration.

That said I don't see it as anymore unsightly than older neighborhoods having the older homes torn down and three + 3-story townhomes built on the lots.

Too close to the property line? Tear it down. That's what would happen to anyone else that ran afoul of building and zoning laws.

I'm kind of shocked it was approved. There is such a thing as called a "daylight plane". I thought that a neighboring home cannot encroach on that plane. wierd!
