I scanned the article and saw no mention of Omar being rushed to the hospital for examination or her sweater being confiscated for forensic examination. These are the first things I'd do if a stranger with alleged bad intent sprayed something on me.

I think it's a play for sympathy from Omar who looks to be in some big legal trouble.
